Future Playground – Ein partizipatives Workshop-Format, um in wünschenswerten Zukünften zu denken und sie weiterzuentwickeln

Wenn es in Erzählungen um die Zukunft der Menschheit geht, wird oft ein narrativ dystopischer Rahmen verwendet, in welchem vieles schief laufen kann. Über Jahre hat sich die Dystopie klar als Erzählform für Visionen der Zukunft etabliert. Diese Erzählweise ist derart im Mainstream verankert, dass man fast annehmen könnte, dass das reale Weltgeschehen nur in eine dystopische Zukunft führen kann, sodass bei dem Gedanken an die Zukunft oft nichts als Müdigkeit und Perspektivlosigkeit übrig bleibt.

Aus diesem Grund möchte ich mit Hilfe eines partizipativen Workshop-Formates, den Blick für wünschenswerte Zukünfte erweitern. Es geht darum, Bilder und Alltagsszenarien für unsere Gesellschaft zu kreieren, die Lust auf die Zukunft machen. Durch Genres wie „Solarpunk“ sollen Teilnehmerinnen angeregt werden, über diese Zukünfte nachzudenken und eigene Narrative zu entwickeln. „Solarpunk“ eignet sich hierbei insbesondere, weil es ein positives Zukunftsbild schafft, in dem Natur und Mensch im Einklang leben, ohne dabei auf Fortschritt zu verzichten. Das Workshop-Format soll in zwei Teile gegliedert werden. Im ersten Teil sollen die Teilnehmerinnen befähigt werden, sich in positive Zukünfte hineinzudenken, während im zweiten Teil eigene Narrative entwickelt werden. Das Ziel meiner Bachelorarbeit ist es, einerseits die Methodiken für ein Workshop-Format zu entwickeln und zu evaluieren, und andererseits die Ergebnisse der Teilnehmer*innen in Form eines Zines dokumentieren, um darauf weitere Workshops aufzubauen.

Abstract English

When narratives deal with the future of humanity, they often use a narrative dystopian framework in which many things can go wrong. Over the years, dystopia has clearly established itself as the narrative form for visions of the future. This narrative form is so entrenched in the mainstream that one could almost assume that real world events can only lead to a dystopian future, so that when thinking about the future, one is often left with nothing but weariness and a lack of perspective.

For this reason, I would like to use a participative workshop format to widen our view of desirable futures. The aim is to create images and everyday scenarios for our society that make us want to experience the future. Through genres such as „Solarpunk“, participants are encouraged to think about these futures and develop their own narratives. „Solarpunk“ is particularly suitable because it creates a positive image of the future in which nature and humans live in harmony without sacrificing progress. The workshop format will be divided into two parts. In the first part, the participants will be enabled to imagine into positive futures, while in the second part they will develop their own narratives. The aim of my bachelor thesis is to develop and evaluate the methods for a workshop format on the one hand, and to document the results of the participants in the form of a zine on the other hand, in order to build on them in further workshops.
