GEGEN | ÜBER – Visuelle Aufbereitung und Vergleich unterschiedlicher Datenformen am Beispiel von Protestbewegungen

Mit der Digitalisierung hat die Fülle an Informationen stetig zugenommen. Statt eines geradlinigen Kommunikationsflusses gibt es durch soziale Netzwerke eine exponentielle Verbreitung von Informationen und damit eine größere und komplexere Masse an Daten als je zuvor. Zusätzlich sind nicht alle Datenformen gleich – es gibt Informationen in Textform, als Videos, Tabellen, kurze Beiträge oder ausführliche Berichte. Möchte ein Mensch sich zu einem bestimmten Thema im Internet informieren, werden oftmals tausende Ergebnisse angezeigt.

Ein Beispiel dafür ist die Vielfältigkeit von Protestbewegungen gegen politische oder soziale Verhältnisse. Offline finden verschiedenste Veranstaltungen statt, online werden über soziale Netzwerke und Webseiten von Zeitschriften eine Fülle an Informationen geteilt. Durch den dauerhaften Austausch und der damit wachsenden Informationsdichte ist die Kommunikation hochkomplex. Somit haben Protestbewegungen viele Faktoren, die ihren Charakter ausmachen. Dabei sind die Formate der Daten zu den einzelnen Faktoren sehr unterschiedlich und teilweise nicht messbar.

In dieser Bachelorarbeit wird ein Konzept zur visuellen Aufbereitung und zum Vergleich digitaler Informationen über Protestbewegungen entwickelt. Als Beispiel dienen die Bewegungen Fridays for Future und Querdenker. Durch die gestalterische Gegenüberstellung zweier Protestbewegungen und den direkten Vergleich können Nutzende ein größeres Verständnis über die Bewegungen, ihre Unterschiede und Parallelen erlangen.

Abstract English

With the digitalization, the amount of information has steadily increased. Instead of a linear flow of communication, there is an exponential spread of information through social networks and thus a larger and more complex mass of data than ever before.Additionally, not all data is the same - there is information in text form, as videos, tables, short posts, or detailed reports. If a person wants to find out about a particular topic on the Internet, thousands of results are often available.

One example of this is the variety of protest movements against political or social conditions. Offline, a wide range of events take place; online, a great deal of information is shared via social networks and magazine websites. Due to the permanent exchange and the therefore growing density of information, communication is highly complex. As a result, protest movements have many factors that make up their character. At the same time, the formats of the data on the individual factors are very different and partly not measurable.

In this bachelor thesis a concept for the visual preparation and comparison of digital information about protest movements is developed. The movements Fridays for Future and Querdenker are used as examples. Through the visual comparison of two protest movements and the direct contrast, users can gain a greater understanding of the movements, the differences between them, and the parallels between them.
