World Setting
A Shift in Mindset
Personally, I don’t think capitalism will disappear within the next 20 years. Instead, I envision a future where capitalism continues to shape the logic of the world’s operating system, yet more and more people recognize the need for a new way of addressing the challenges surrounding our ecosystem and ourselves — a de-growth mindset of living.
This mindset emphasizes real needs, connection, creativity, exploration, intimacy, acceptance and open discussion of personal desires, active engagement with the world, and a sustainable way of living.
The Role of Banking
In this case, banking can be seen as an agency that stores and tracks not only money but also other forms of value that support your actions, such as environmental tokens (e.g., CO2 accounts), time, energy, behavioral patterns, and even emotions. In the face of new environmental challenges, theories of degrowth, and your dynamic personal circumstances, it helps you invest your personal resources more predictably, rethink your desires and goals, and ultimately achieve them. As part of its functionality, this form of banking also facilitates new value flows that promote an eco-friendly, regional, and non-growth-oriented financial system.
Interaction System
Nowadays, conversational AIs such as ChatGPT serve as personal instructors for many people, offering advice and solutions. They are also becoming increasingly powerful as new interfaces to a wide range of services — context-driven and highly personalized in both everyday and professional scenarios.
Thanks to their ability to understand natural language and even process multimodal sensory information, AIs can effectively identify user needs and deliver appropriate services. These services might be explicit and task-focused, such as a minimal interface displaying one’s transaction history. In this sense, AI functions as the intermediary between users and diverse service ecosystems.
As a result, service providers — for instance, banks — may no longer need to design complete standalone apps. Instead, they could focus on creating modular service components or systems, where specific service logics are defined and can be translated into personalized interfaces through AI mediation.
Considering the future development of UX design, more in-depth and integrated user experiences could emerge to address increasingly complex and diverse user needs and values. In such a scenario, one service could seamlessly incorporate data or functionalities from other services, creating a more interconnected and adaptive service environment.

Ideation

Transaction history — a common feature in today’s banking apps — simply shows how much you paid and for what.
In a future shaped by a de-growth mindset, I envision a banking service that acts as an advisor, encouraging people to think more about the value of their consumption rather than the numbers themselves.
